When it comes to hair conditioners and hair treatments it can be confusing as to which is the right product to use and when. Read on to discover the differences between the two so you can decide whether your hair needs a deep condition treatment or just a good conditioner.

A conditioner reduces the PH of hair (shampoo raises it) which results in sealed cuticles and smoother hair.  Regular conditioners are surface acting conditioners meaning that they work on the surface of your hair only and don’t work on the internal structure of your hair. It’s important to always condition after shampooing because it helps replace the moisture your hair lost. It is also advisable to use a shampoo and conditioner from the same brand as they are formulated to work together.

Conditioners do leave residue on the hair and a clarifying rinse may be needed once in a while to remove it. If your hair has residue you will be able to tell. It will look weighed down, lifeless and you may even be able to feel it with your fingers or even be able to see it.

For a quick way to leave your hair looking and smelling amazing, conditioner is the perfect product to use, especially after each hair wash.

A treatment works on the internal structure of the hair known as the Cortex. In other words, a treatment is a deep conditioner because it has a lot more nourishment to offer your hair from the inside.

A deep conditioner is a hair nourishing treatment, it is enriched with natural nourishing oils and do-good ingredients that work great on damaged and dry hair. It nourishes and moisturises your hair and brings it back to health. Treatments give extra protein and essential nutrients to the hair. It’s a good idea to use a treatment at least once a month but for extremely dry and damaged hair once a week is a good idea until your hair gets its health back.

Final Words

It’s important to use a basic conditioner regularly, especially after every hair wash, and only use a treatment occasionally to boost the health of your hair. If your hair is very damaged, a treatment should be used regularly to treat your hair’s dry, damaged or fragile condition.
